Mental Health Counseling for Children & Teens
Our adolescent services are tailored to specifically serve the needs of children & teens. We strive to provide the latest, evidenced-based therapies to treat a wide variety of mental illnesses and substance abuse. We can provide psychiatric evaluations and medication management for mental illnesses including anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, family and relationship problems, obsessive compulsive disorder, and schizophrenia.

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is a highly effective, evidence-based program shown to help children (ages 3–7) whose behavior is disruptive or impulsive enough to cause serious problems at home and at school.
Delivered in specially designed therapy suites, using state-of-the-art audio technology
A therapist provides live coaching from behind a one-way mirror via a wireless ear bud to the parent
Parents are guided in using effective skills to increase their child’s positive behavior and decrease negative behavior
Children ages 3–7
Designed for children whose behaviors fall outside the range of what’s typical for their age including: disruptive or oppositional behavior, aggression, inattention or hyperactivity, behavioral problems stemming from traumatic experiences

Child Advocacy Center
Long recognized as the lead agency in providing services to sexually and seriously physically abused children, the Child Advocacy Center works with law officials and medical, mental health and child protection professionals to help children and their families with a single, child-friendly, coordinated response.
Anxiety focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
Anxiety is present in all of our lives, but for many children, it’s more than a passing phase. Anxiety disorders such as generalized anxiety, separation anxiety and phobias, are estimated to be more common than any other childhood mental health issue. The licensed mental health professionals at BestSelf Behavioral Health are highly trained to provide compassionate and effective treatment that helps reduce the effects of anxiety disorders in children and teens.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
The DBT program at BestSelf Behavioral Health is the only outpatient treatment program in Western New York to provide adolescents and their families with a comprehensive, evidence-based treatment plan that includes individual and group therapy as well as on-call support during the course of treatment.
Utilizes a specific set of strategies that have been shown to effectively treat adolescents who self-harm, experience suicidal thoughts, or display other severe behaviors or feelings
