April 2026 Calendar

RCOC Calendar April 2026
Hello BestSelf Team & Valued Community Partners,
As we enter the month of April, we are reminded that just like the seasons, we too are always growing, evolving, and becoming. Spring invites us to move forward in recovery with intention, to embrace change, and to trust that even in transition, there is purpose!
With full hearts, we are honored to welcome Nate Calhoun as our new Recovery Community Outreach Center Program Director. Nate is stepping into this leadership role from his strong foundation as a peer, and we are excited for what this means for our recovery community. His lived experience, compassion, and commitment to peer support will continue to guide and strengthen the work we do every day. We are grateful to walk alongside him in this next chapter of leadership.
April is filled with meaningful observances, and we want to take a moment to send a special and heartfelt shoutout to our Counselors. In the spirit of true collaboration, we often say that peers are the peanut butter to the counselors’ jelly! Together, we create something whole while supporting participants in a way that is both clinical and grounded in lived experience. Thank you for your partnership, your care, and your dedication to those we serve.
April is also a month rich with meaning and awareness. From Stress Awareness Month, National Minority Health Month, Alcohol Awareness Month, and Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month, to moments like Earth Day and National Volunteer Week, we recognize the many layers of healing, identity, and community that exist within recovery. Each observance reflects the diverse experiences of those we serve and reminds us to continue leading with compassion, cultural humility, and understanding.
We also want to take a moment during National Volunteer Week to share our deep gratitude for the Volunteers here at the Recovery Community Center, who help keep our Center running smoothly each and every day. Your commitment, presence, and willingness to give back are truly part of the heartbeat of our recovery community.
In honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month, we are proud to stand in alignment with BestSelf and our community by recognizing Wear Blue Day on April 10th. We invite everyone to join us in wearing blue as a symbol of awareness, protection, and hope for our children and families.
Our April calendar is full of opportunities to connect, heal, and grow together from peer-led groups to community events; all rooted in creating a safe, welcoming, and empowering space for all!
As we continue this journey together, let us be intentional:
✨ Intentional in our healing
✨ Intentional in our connections
✨ Intentional in how we show up for one another
Because recovery does not happen in isolation but it happens in community!
Thank you for your continued partnership, your presence, and your commitment to this work. We truly do this together!
With gratitude, hope and partnership,
The Recovery Community Outreach Center
