June 2026 Calendar

RCOC May 2026 Activity Calendar
Hello BestSelf Team & Valued Community Partners,
As we welcome June, we are reminded that recovery is not just about overcoming challenges; it is also about rediscovering ourselves, reconnecting with community, and creating spaces where people feel brave and safe enough to heal, grow, and simply be human.
This month holds several meaningful behavioral health and community observances, including Pride Month, PTSD Awareness Month, Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, and Juneteenth. Each reminds us of the importance of visibility, freedom, healing, equity, and belonging. At the Recovery Community Center, we recognize that recovery and wellness are deeply connected to feeling accepted, supported, and empowered to live authentically without shame or stigma.
As we honor Pride Month, we continue striving to create affirming spaces where LGBTQIA+ individuals feel seen, valued, and supported in their recovery journeys. In recognition of Juneteenth, we also reflect on the importance of liberation, resilience, community healing, and the ongoing work of breaking barriers that continue to impact mental health, substance use, and access to care within marginalized communities.
We are excited to continue offering peer-led groups, wellness activities, mindfulness, creative expression, LGBTQIA+ support programming, and recovery-centered community connection opportunities throughout the month.
On June 17th from 1-4pm, we are honored to host Free Haircuts for Those in Need, offering community members an opportunity to receive free haircuts in a welcoming and supportive environment. Sometimes the smallest acts of care can help restore confidence, dignity, and hope.
On that same day, we will also hold our all-day Brief Biosocial Gambling Screening (BBGS) Event, a confidential and judgment-free opportunity for individuals to learn more about gambling-related harms and available supports. Through our ongoing Problem Gambling 101 programming and partnership with NYCPG, we hope to continue raising awareness, reducing stigma, and creating safe spaces for honest conversations around gambling and recovery.
We also invite anyone interested in helping strengthen recovery supports within our community to consider joining our Recovery Community Center Advisory Board.
Every conversation, every act of support, and every moment of connection matters. Thank you for continuing to walk alongside us in this work and for helping create communities rooted in hope, compassion, dignity, and recovery!

Together in healing, hope and recovery,
Recovery Community
