Univera Healthcare supports center to aid child victims of sexual and physical abuse
A health equity award from Univera Healthcare will support the work of the Child Advocacy Center at BestSelf Behavioral Health, Inc., the largest community behavioral health provider in Western New York.
The Child Advocacy Center at BestSelf (CAC) is an innovative, comprehensive center offering safety, support, and healing for children and families affected by sexual abuse, violence, and trauma in Erie County. When children are not taken to the CAC, they are questioned in emergency rooms, police stations, schools, doctor’s offices, and re-traumatized each time they have to repeat their experiences. With this expansion, children will only need to tell their story once.
